Spooky Summer~Don't order the Grimace Shake

This all started yesterday. I’m still in shock. Traumatized, even. Me and my friends went to McDonald’s. A little backstory, me and my friends just graduated college. It was hell. But we always loved McDonald’s. So we figured we should go. After all, we wanted to try the new Grimace Shake.

So we pull up to the first window, and grab our Grimace Meal. The meal itself, was fine. But the shake… After my friend, Kayla, tasted it. She was fine. We hung out for an hour. Kayla, and the rest of my friend group were staying the night at James’ place. I love James. He’s my best friend. I declined. I was way to damn tired to do anything.

I went home, and passed out. It was 1:00 AM, where it happened. 25 missed calls. 101 missed texts. “What the hell?!” I shouted. I looked at the voice messages James sent me. “Holy shit! David! Please help! He’s here! Oh shit! He’s coming!” It was followed by static, and screaming. “David! Grimace! He’s real. No! Leave me alone!” No more messages. Nothing. I contacted everyone else. They didn’t answer. I put on the news. “5 dead teens were found brutally murdered.” My heart sank. Grimace…did he really? Now, here we are. I’m still in shock. As I’m writing this, I feel Grimace watching me. Stalking me. He’s coming for me! Please! Send help! Help me! Grimace is a monster! He needs to be stopped! Whatever you do, don’t order the Grimace Shake!

Weekly Halloween- Haunted Lavatory

Public restrooms can be scary enough sometimes, let alone the ones ata  school. Though I think a ghost terrorixzing you while sitting in there just might be worse than some bully banging on the door and laughing.  Depending on who tells you the story, Hanako-san was either murdered by a stranger or a parent in a school restroom. Sometimes the story says she (sadly) killed herself or was the victim of an World War II air raid while in the restroom.

All of the origin stories are pretty sad. If you choose to summon Hanako-san, you must individuially go inside a girls restroom inside a school, knock three times on the third stall and ask if Hanako-san is present. If she's there, she's answer with form of 'yes, i am'. You'll then see a ghostly or bloody hand. Either that hand or Hanako-san will pull you into the toilet or straight to hell! Or maybe just eaten by a three-headed lizard for disturbing her privacy. Like most urban legends there's a lot of variations depending on who's telling the story. I'm assuming that person didn't actually attempt it themselves...

What do you get when Star Wars day falls on our weekly observance of all things spooky here on Zone Base? Creepypasta from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... Depending on your age, you likely have some Star Wars related Halloween memories. I've seen plenty of costumes from the movies. From the originals as a kid, to the more recent movies. There's been plenty of trick or treating options from Lucasfilm availible. The most memorable for me is my brother's Gamorrean Guard mask. Bought shortly after Return of the Jedi came out to wear on Halloween.

He wore that mask every year until reaching the dreaded 'too old' stage. Aside from the mask though, the rest of the costume wouldn't be very Star Wars. The first year wearing it, he wore a flannel shirt with a pillow stuffed underneath to make him fatter. Later years the mask was wore with a horror robe, thus making it terrifying in every conceivable way. Up until recently I still had the old mask. I was sadly forced to throw it away as time had made it start decomposing in storage.

Weekly Halloween: Red Rooms At Night

 

Working overnight can be weird. I've done it for going on 11 years now and have had prior night shift jobs before. The world can be quieter at night, but also, more creepy. I can't tell you how many random weirdos I've ran across doing something as simple as getting a soda at a convenience store. Sometimes I run to the store for something at lunch, or just taking a break outside early in the morning. Not every time has been simple. There's a reason so many late night workers have spooky stories and so much media has been made from it. Fortunately I've not dealt with the red room like in the video above. Though, in those early days of the internet, I saw some weird and scary stuff. Still do, but these day's it's a little better hidden. There's just always something weird going on and sometimes it's just better not to look.

Did you guys think I forgot what site this is? Sure I enjoy Christmas, love it actually. Zone is a weird planet with lot of dark corners where creepy things lurk. Kowabana is one of my favorite podcasts. It's translated true ghost stories and creepypasta from Japan. Kowabana itself means scary stories, which we're supposed to be telling as well as those tales of the glories  you know...

Mask Up And Face The New Week

It's another new week here on Planet Zone! While Kuchisake-onna has been around longer than the pandemic, sometimes I wonder if sightings of her have been increasing over the past year. Scary huh? I hope you find all the fun stuff I'm gonna post this week pretty. There's a new episode of Not As Brightly Lit for your weekly dose of something spooky and we're rounding the corner on our weekly look at the Final Faction toys from Dollar Tree. Replay: Friday The 13th

It's Friday the 13th! The second one of 2020, which considering how this year has went since the last one...

I've been a life long horror fan, but that doesn't mean I like all horror. I have the stuff I prefer and the stuff I could care less about. In college I discovered The Ring a few years before the US remake came out. This lead into me learning more about J-Horror and discovering Japanese ghost videos. 

I like to watch various paranormal TV and regularly watch ghost videos as is. These Japanese ones normally come from paranormal TV shows playing spooky clips. They'll display the message 'Replay' before repeating the clip giving you a chance to spot the scary ghost. It's pretty fun to watch these and try to spot the scary stuff. Like all ghost videos, I don't believe everything I'm seeing, but I'm entertained.

Unlike my younger days, I'm no longer getting bootlegged copies of these videos on VHS/VCD. Between Youtube and a few other choice places (dude, Facebook video is awesome) I can watch them whenever, wherever. Since I regularly post paranormal videos here anyway, I thought it was time for a new tag. So if you see 'Replay' in the post tags, follow that rabbit hole.

There's nothing like a good scary story at Halloween. Between marathons on TV, VOD, and creepypasta; folks can't wait to scare you! But back in the day, if you were willing to pay, there was always a hotline promising some spooky shit! I'm not sure what was more scary, the story or the phone bill. That's where I'd type 'lol' or use a wacky emoji if this were Facebook. While I was never allowed to call these numbers, I always enjoyed the commercials like this one. They made sure you knew absolute terror was waiting for your call. Or somebodies drunk Uncle dressed as Dracula.
