Robots/Monsters/Oh My

I got the coolest Press Release today chock full of upcoming Hasbro toys. There's some really cool stuff coming in 2022 and I thought I'd point out a few neat things that I thought might be of interest to Zone Base readers.

Transformers: Bumblebee Cyberverse Adventures Dinobots Unite Smash Changer Optimus Prime (Ages 6 & up/Approx. Retail Price: $31.49)

This is a pretty neat looking figure. While being part of Cyberverse, it's clearly Optimus from the Bumblebee movie and upcoming Rise of the Beasts! I really dig the newer movie designs and this one's pretty tempting. That's him in the header image.

Star Wars™ - Star Wars™ Mission Fleet Boba Fett Starship and 2.5-inch Figure Set (Ages 4 years & up/ Approx. Retail Price: $41.99)

You guys know I've been a fan of the Mission Fleet Star Wars toys. While I didn't see a picture of this one, I'm really looking forward to it. Boba Fett is one of my all time favorites (I already have his regular Mission Fleet toy) and looking forward to seeing his classic ship in this line,

Power Rangers Dino Fury Megafury Saber (Ages 5 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $38.99)

Tokusatsu fans love role play toys and Hasbro has a few Power Rangers ones on the way. I'm pointing out the Megafury Saber as I want to run around the back yard and swing it at imaginary monsters. Or the neighbors kid.

Marvel Mech Strike Monster Hunters (Ages 4 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $11.99-$34.99)

Holy crap! I already thought Marvel Mech Strike was pretty great, but they just made it amazing! Now we have Marvel's heroes with super cool mech suits and sci fi weaponry fighting specifically monstery versions of the Marvel villains. I am specifically excited for this, just look at that packaging! With this and the new season of Stranger Things (finally) coming soon, we've got a great start to spooky summer!

Thanks to Rogers & Cowan for providing Zone Base readers with another awesome press release.

T-Rex wins the Belt

Last weekend I found the T-Rex Champion Zord after what felt like looking forever. I hope to get the accompanying Zord sets soon to build the various Dino Fury Megazord formations. In the meantime I'm appreciating the big red guy who's the main component needed for all of the forms. He's a pretty cool toy on his own. A big Tyrannosaurus Rex with laser guns and drills that transforms into a robot. You can add other Zords onto the robot to form the various Megazord formations. It's pretty cool.

Not only that, but there's different heads for each formation. This is a holdover from Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger, the series Dino Fury was made from. I didn't watch that show, but enjoying Dino Fury is making it more tempting. These heads are an enlarged Ryusoul form in the Sentai series. That's not elaborated into on Dino Fury. There's just this random Ranger that turns into the Megazord's head during the sequence. I understand that they're working with reused footage, but you'd think they'd have an explanation. Regardless, the heads transform into the random Rangers. The back of the head even pops off to reveal a Ranger piloting the Megaord. That's a neat little detail. I wish they explained it more fictionally. I'm still enjoying the weird little mini figure regardless. You guys know I love partner figures.

If you don't like part-formers, you'll probably not care for this toy. Due to the various Zord formations (I am using that word so much today), transformation by parts swapping is how everything is done. Speaking of, that green crotch piece in the pic is for one of those formations, I just forgot to take it off when I took the picture. I just noticed it, and the dinosaurs big tail isn't visible either. I never claimed to be an expert photographer. Or a good photographer even... damn cropped off robot toes. It's a fun toy and you can give him a sword via parts from other Zords. I plan to get those eventually.

A Terrorizing New Week

It's a new week here on Planet Zone and the week before Halloween. Needless to say this will be a specifically spooky week on Zone Base. It's hard to believe we're already coming to an end of the spooky season. It's been a super fun one and I've been happy to celebrate it with all of you again this year. Even though the pumpkin spice mayhem will cool down next week. I've still got plans to keep scary stuff around all year. You all know the Base is haunted, right?

This weekend I didn't do a whole lot. Checked out Ollie's for Transformers that I may have missed in their Christmas stock. Nope, just dudes I already have. Then popped in Big Lots to hopefully find that MOTU Eternian Palace Guard set that's been showing up there. Nope, again no luck. They did have some cool Playskool Power Rangers with bike sets that I'll go back and get eventually. I did stop at Target and behold finally found the new Target exclusive Stranger Things figures!

I grabbed Dustin and Eleven and plan to get the larger Demogorgon and Demodog later. The other kids will follow in future waves, so I'll have to be patient. Bandai really knocked these out of the park. We'll be talking about them later. If you don't know, trust me, they're great. Target also had the Dino Fury T-Rex Champion Megazord. I've been looking forward to this Megazord set all year and took him home as well. The other Zords will be purchased soon. These are too great.

I carved my pumpkins Sunday. One Jason Voorhees and one Grim Reaper. I originally planned to do a Michael Myers, but had a hard time picking a template from my Halloween 2 jack o' lantern book. Yes, they make that and I own it. The Switch Online expansion pack releases today and I'm looking forward to adding it as soon as it's available to me. Sega and N64 channels? Deal. I'm about to spend the day doing site work and household chores. Such is a Monday. I've got a spooky fun week planned, hope everyone enjoys it. Trick or Treat Zone Base readers. You can keep all your candy, but please share this site with your friends.

Dino Fury, The Idea Was To Bring Together a Group Of Teenagers With Attitude

Dino Fury has pretty much taken me by surprise. It didn't seem to have the buildup Beast Morphers got, so it was a little off my radar. I knew it was coming, but that was it. I went in with no expectations and ended up really liking it. Maybe more than Beast Morphers. I was aware of Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger (the Super Sentai series Dino Fury was adapted from), but didn't get a chance to watch any of it. Kinda glad about that as that allows me to go into Dino Fury fresh and just enjoy it on the surface level.

As far as the toys go, so far I've gotten the Red and Blue Rangers as well as Boomtower (one of the monsters). Like Beast Morphers before it, the standard Power Ranger figures by Hasbro have a surprising amount of articulation. When Hasbro first took over, I initially thought the basic toys would be similar to the basic Marvel figures they produce and was glad to be wrong. These are some pretty dang nice toys. Boomtower doesn't have the wide range of movement that the Rangers have, but he's much bulkier. I mainly got him because I love his weird design.

Each figure comes with a Dino Fury Key. These little keys look like basic mini figures of the character it comes with that inserts into the Dino Fury Morpher role play toy. Doing so unlocks extra sounds exclusive to each key. Fictionally these allow the Rangers to morph into their Power Ranger forms. There's also Boost Keys that give the Rangers power ups. While I don't plan to get the Morpher, I do like the little mini figures. I'm mainly bidding my time until the Megazord comes out, it looks pretty awesome.

Merge Into A New Week

Hey, remember when I said I'd be stopping these 'new week posts'? I lied. It's Monday and you know what that means? A brand new week here on Planet Zone! Before you say it, yes I was originally intended to launch Not As Brightly Lit today... and changed my mind. If you've gotten the chance to listen, I hope you like it. It's been on my back burner for a long time and it feels good to finally do it. I record episodes in advance, so you'll probably notice little improvements over time. Not as many pops in the next episode and the show is also available on iHeart Radio and Breaker now as well. Though it'll be a few episodes until that's mentioned because it wasn't ready when they were recorded. I plan to put it on more services, but I'm taking one thing at a time.

I'm looking forward to the new Pacific Rim anime on Netflix. Also the new Godzilla anime and Ultraman season 2 are coming soon. It's great that Netflix has such cool stuff, especially considering how uninterested I was in it's streaming initially. Power Rangers Dino Fury will be starting soon as well. I kinda forgot about it until the past few days. I'm glad it's been brought to my attention. The new Zord toys look neat and I'm looking forward to the show. From the cast descriptions I'm kinda excited. The Red Ranger is an alien, the blue a skeptic, and the pink is very into the paranormal. For a person who's TV stays on Travel Channel and got Discovery+ just for paranormal entertainment...

I know that'll all be dropped after the first few episodes, but man, I can dream right? Thanks everyone for continuing to read and support Zone Base. Please share with your friends, it's all I ask.
