Every one likes a good scare during the spooky season. It's a good time to break out some horror games and have some creepy fun. Siren and it's sequels were a solid entry in the genre that maintains a fan following today. I wonder how many people have seen this commercial without knowing it was for a game? Did they just watched a cursed tape and were now living on borrowed time?

Take Monday with You
It's Monday, dammit. Thankfully you've found yourself on Zone Base to get you through the week. My weekend was pretty good, even if short lived. Thankfully Memorial Day weekend is approaching for a much needed break. The Mrs and I enjoyed some weekend shopping and good food. I ate plenty of Sushi on Saturday as the Mrs and I watched the newest episode of 1000lbs Sisters and rented The Minecraft Movie on Amazon. I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did. While I haven't played Minecraft in a while, but I've always enjoyed it. The movie, however, was hilarious and felt more like a Tenacious D episode than a video game adaptation.
I intended to buy the new Doom game this weekend, but decided to hold off for a little while. I'm still playing though the 2016 Doom game I recently bought on sale. I really want the new game, but think I'll get it a little later. I found Turtles of Grayskull Mechaneck and ordered ZombieTrack from Amazon. Surprisingly, ZombieTrack came in within hours. I've been wanting him since announcement, but waiting for 52toys to stock him in the US Amazon shop. I generally get my BeastBox toys there or in person and have had great success. I think there's a fun monster robot week in Zone Base's future. Speaking of fun, Cyberworld toys are starting to materialize and I can't wait to cover them here on the site. They feel like the successor to the Beast Alliance figures that I loved so much and were so fun to blog about. Please look forward to upcoming posts about them as they become available to me. I spent Sunday evening playing Doom and building Blokees. Such a fun way to spend an evening.
Speaking of fun, that's the kind of week I've got coming your way Zone Base readers. Thank you all for coming back for another week of robots, monsters, and misadventure! I hope everyone enjoys the content and hope you all share it with your friends!

Christmas with Crash Bandicoot and night terrors
Crash Bandicoot is a hard game that you are going to die many times. Though also, Crash Bandicoot is a lovable character who's antics are just a pure deligh...What the hell is even going on in this commercial? You get a kid dreaming of the new Crash Bandicoot game for Christmas, only to wake up next to Crash who... apparently lives with the family... and wakes up to randomly belly flop on the kid. Merry Christmasly, the kid gets said game for Christmas and Crash gets a CD he's been wanting and later gets it autographed at the park...
What the hell commercial, what the hell...
I was kinda happy for Crash though.

Evil in a Residential area
I love the original Resident Evil. Love it. Hands down my favorite 'scary' game to this day. One thing my wife and I had been talking about lately is what to put in each others Trick or Treat pails this year. She'd like a copy of the new Luigi's Mansion while I'm finding myself drawn to the new Switch re-releases of older RE games. Sure would be a great way to enjoy Halloween night.

Chiisana Kyojin Microman PSX
Sometimes it seems unfair when you see something you'd really would like but not available for your country (Oh sure, import the game, mod the Playstation, run an emulator, Raspberry Pi, yada yada I'm not doing any of that). I'd love to swing by a Walmart or Gamestop, or even some systems e-shop for this game. Kind of surprised it didn't get some weird release here under some strange name like "Galactic Fighter" in a budget release, but whatever. It looks great. Classic Microman in a shooty man type game, I'm in. Heck yeah gangsta.
It would be neat if Microchange bots would appear (and maybe they do and I don't know), but like post TF Diaclone, Takara isn't too keen on putting Transformers used bots in non Transformers stuff. Can't blame them, they're out to make money. MC-04 Car is a footnote in one toy line, while Bumblebee is currently starring in a popular movie (currently 413 million box office with a budget of 135 million... booyah). Obviously they don't want to dilute the product.
Still, man this just looks great. That old school sci fi of Microman is just charming as crap and dude is just something I could play all day.

Christmas NiGHTS
I always wished I had gotten a Sega Saturn. I almost bought one instead of a PlayStation back when they were on shelves only to get a Playstation because none of my local stores had Saturns. Which worked out, I loved my Playstation and it was the de facto winner in that battle. Still the Saturn was so damn rad. NiGHTS was one of the consoles 'must have' games and this special Christmas edition was just a nice cherry on the top of a well crafted Sega sundae. Admittedly, watching this commercial I got a little jealous of the kids who got the Saturn for Christmas. That would have made for a great present.

PS Classic
Well, I need to get this as well. I had a thought after I saw this. I'm going to take my SNES and NES classic, that tiny Genesis mini, and this... and just stick them all in my backpack.. and still have plenty of room. Teen-aged me's mind would explode.

Because I was a cool kid
The Beast Wars video game is not well regarded as a good game. That's fair, as it's not a good game. However, it's a bad game I couldn't get enough of. I've got both the PC and PS version of the game. That's right, I bought both. Why? Well, I'm crazy obviously, but also, I had a great time with it. You see, I mainly played the PS version for the single player mode as I never found a good way to play it on the PC. I've never been a big fan of mouse and keyboard controls, and never found a controller I was totally happy with. But the PS version was by default designed for a standard controller, so I was able to enjoy it more that way, and I did enjoy playing it for all it's faults.
The PC version is the main reason we're here right now. Because I got it first and played it most, despite my earlier complaints about the controls. Why? Because I'm crazy obviously, but also, I had a great time with it. You see, it had a online mode that was a lot of fun. Sure, it was the standard fair death match. But that wasn't what was fun. While I'm sure it could be played online other ways, the intended and main way was through the MSN gaming site at the time that it was designed for. What made that so special? Well, each game had it's channels on the MSN gaming site at the time with several hubs for folks to gather and play. Each hub was basically a chat room until folks would go in to play the game. I spent hours, weeks, months, in those chat hubs.
Those chat hubs for a time were great places for fans to interact that was just fun. Usually free of the fandom drama and gate keepers that were in the usual haunts, the hubs were just a good place to talk Transformers. It eventually fizzled out, but for a time, it was great. I still remember it and some of those old excite/yahoo chat rooms during that time as my favorite places together with other Transformers fans and just enjoy the hobby with others. I guess it's an awkward way to gather, but back in those times talking Transformers was always an extra turn around your elbow on the way to your booty. Avoiding the nonsense made it well worth it though.

Tacos and Transmetals
College was a simple time, sorta. Classes , job, social life, staying up all night on the internet or in front of a video game, and somehow living with just a few hours sleep here and there. It was basically childhood version 2.0 where I got to call my own shots.
