Initializing New Week

It's time to get the week started Zone Base readers! I hope everyone had a great weekend, I sure did. To celebrate the Mrs's birthday, I took her shopping and we enjoyed dinner at Medieval Times. We got some fun stuff from Teso and Miniso and had an all around great time. We were exhausted Sunday, so it was spent napping, watching TV, playing video games, and enjoying chilli the Mrs made in the crock pot. 

I managed to get some great stuff. The Mrs picked up MOTU Origins Snake Face for me Friday. Saturday during our shopping trip, I got several Japanese Transformers school supplies. I also got some great Ultraman and Demon Slayer keshi. Godzilla and Ultraman sofubi was purchased (who would have thought Miniso sold kaiju toys?). I also picked up an SD Gundam model and Shin-Chan blind box.

We made a visit to the 52toys store where I bought some BeastBox toys and a Stranger Hands blind box. I got the vampire hand! I played some more of the Halloween game Sunday and as much as I enjoy it... that is one frustrating game. I was all too happy to buy it last October... but still am only halfway through thanks to getting angry and not playing for weeks. Speaking of Halloween, our first spooky season decorations were gifted to us during the week. Considering it's January, we're right on schedule! Well, it's time to get this new week started. Hagen no Zista? I hardly know you

One of the more pleasant discoveries while I was at Toylanta was that of a small gatcha/gashapon line of figures (and trading cards) by Bandai called Hagen no Zista. I knew nothing of this line before the convention and at the time of this writing still know very little. To be fair, the amount of this type of thing that completely escapes my attention is not uncommon. It's a much bigger thing than a single person can keep up. That being said, this is a cool little series that completely passed me by a few years ago and seems to be over... though I seem to be able to track down some of the stuff still. 

Hagen no Zista is a neat little line of robot mini figures with fun designs in mostly translucent plastic designed by Bandai. There's probably an accompanying fiction, but at this time I haven't learned of it. Knowing these kind of things, it's a typical good vs evil formula. There is some sort of card inside the boxed ones I bought, not sure if that's for a game or just a cool bio card (there seems to be associated trading cards). I generally appreciate when mini figures and keshi come with that sort of thing.

The blind boxed/gathca style figures are seemingly candy toys that regularly came with a chocolate. The ones I got had some apple gum inside that my wife convinced me to try. It was a pretty tasty apple flavored gum that I hope hadn't gone bad. I didn't get sick, so guess not. The Gashapon capsule I got seemed to be the same style of figure as the boxed on, just delivered differently. The figures are pleasant, articulated little robots in colorful translucent plastic. They have that Bandai look, but also look like they should have been from a video game. I could definitely see some of these in a LCD game like Digimon or an RPG.

The line has ended, sadly so because I'd love for these to still be readily available. That's the kicker when you discover something after it's over. There was an apparent successor named Robot Concerto. I can't tell if Robot Concerto is still going, but honestly, Bandai makes so many of this type of thing... there's always something else similar. The boxes for Robot Concerto look like Mobile Suit Gundam Ensemble boxes, so it's possible the team moved onto that. I'm partially stoked about Hagen no Zista as it's something that's clearly my type of thing. But also because, it's neat to discover something at a con. It's been a while since that's happened for me and I'm happy for it.

Mobile Egg Gundam

 

I was pleasantly surprised to see the new Mobile Change Haro toys on Bandai Namco Play's Facebook page. In case you couldn't tell from the pictures, they're various Mobile Suits that transform in Haro's. Putting it into even simpler terms, they're egg bots. The Mobile Suits are pleasantly small and cute, almost Super Deformed. For such a silly toy, it's very welcome. They're up for pre-order on Amazon with a shipping date of 10/17/22. Just like the new series of Gundam Infinity figures, I'm assuming (hoping) they'll be showing up at Target stores soon. These little bots are too full of charm to ignore... and I may have a thing or two for egg bots.

Weekly Update 6/20/22

 It's Monday and the beginning of another new week here on Planet Zone! This weekend sure did go by pretty fast, but was pretty enjoyable. I went by Target to hopefully find the new Gundam Infinity figures to no avail. I did get, however, some Transformers Micro Machines and the larger Jada Optimus Prime. I've been really looking for these Micro Machines, so that was exciting. Just some regular stuff, not the blind packed city sets. It's still a start. I noticed the Bumblebee playset is also available as a non-Transformers branded red Camaro as well. Weird. Target had New Eternia Beastman, but I wasn't about to pay $30 for him. Waiting for a sale. Wish I could find new Eternia Skeletor and He-Man. Or some new Eternia Minis. 

We stopped by At Home to check on Halloween stocking. Nothing yet, though others have been reporting on theirs getting started. Ours has been starting more around late June/early July the past few years, but I'm too excited to be patient. Picked up the Upside Down glow in the dark Demogorgon and CGI Man-E-Faces at Walmart as well. The Mrs got me a pair of New Balance for cat dads day. Now I've got a sweet pair of vintage type sneaks for hoodie and jeans season. Which is quite a while away, but I'm not complaining. I also picked up a new Jurrasic World Kinder Suprise. The new ones aren't as great as the last set they did, but still pretty cool. 

I've got a fun week in store for you all. Spooky Summer is chugging along and I guess regular readers have noticed the focus on Sparking Transformers over the past few Fridays. Summer is a Spooky season, but also a festive time. Here in the States, there's a lot of fireworks shot from Memorial Day to Independence Day. June is a pretty good time to look at those pretty explosions that are really dangerous! Thank you for continuing to support Zone Base. Weekly Update 5/9/22

 

It's a new week here on Zone Base and I've got a fun week planned for you all. This past weekend was a peaceful one. I don't have much to really tell all you happened though. A trip to Target resulted on finding Mike and Lucas from the Stranger Things Features figures. Just need Will and I'll have the line finished.

I hope they continue making them, it's a really fun little set of figures. I also found Legacy core class Hot Rod. Walmart had Legacy Blaster much to my surprise. Their Transformers was mostly over stocked with bots I already own, so finding him floating around in the wrong area was unexpected. Dollar Tree still didn't have any new Final Faction toys, but I grabbed some wacky Block mini figures while there.

I happily watched Demon House for the millionth time with the Mrs while eating dinner. I really like the Morning Star vegetarian buffalo wings with some Nathan's crinkle cut fries. Straight from the air fryer and into my belly! I dozed off towards the end of the movie. Don't worry, I know what happens.

Sunday we spent some time working in our flower bed and cleaning up the front porch. Every spring means time to clean out the old mulch and put new in! We had gotten some new solar lights to put out there. The old ones still look good, but after a year of being outside have lost a little luster. They'll be going in the back patio replacing the former old solar lights currently there. Unfortunately those got broken by some preasure washers who weren't paying attention while working. 

The rest of Sunday was spent playing Kirby on my Switch while enjoying a strawberry Ramune before Mom came over for dinner. She usually does on Sunday, but seeing as it was Mother's Day this time we had a present for her. I had surprised the Mrs Friday morning at her job for the occasion. The cats wanted me to get her something you know. I guess I had something to tell you all about this weekend after all. There is a fun week of posts ahead, I mentioned that earlier. RX-78-2 (US) Gundam (American Type)

 

RX-78-2 is pretty much the main Gundam in the overall sceme of things. It's kinda of like the Optimus Prime of Gundam. Ironically Takara copied the head for Convoy, but that's another post. My point is, it's every where when it comes to Gundam. This particular version is a Entry Grade Gunpla sold exclusively at Target. Fictionally it's a statue from Gundam Breaker Battlogue, I like it because it's neat. I'm a fan of oddball variations like Police versions or in this case, an American edition Gundam. So you can see why I was happy to find it included with the gifts from the Mrs at Christmas. 

I mentioned above that this is an Entry Grade model, which means it's a simple kit that can be assembled easily in not a lot of time. I had a good time with my nippers assembling this guy while watching paranormal TV a few weeks back. I also ate a salad, it was exquisite. You probably notice the stickers that match the patriotic colors. They were pretty simple over all and the 'RX' logo on it's right should also came in red. I opted for the blue. I think I put the stripes sticker on the shield upside down. Something I didn't notice until it was too late. Fortunately they look the same regardless. 

This was a fun, simple kit that looks great. The American version is a fun variation that's not too far removed from the standard look of the RX-78-2's. The finished figure after assembly has a good deal of articulation and can be put into a variety of poses. While the simplicity of the build may not appeal to advanced Gunpla folks, it was a fun evening for me.

GAT-X103 Buster Gundam (G Frame)

 

I haven't built a Gundam model in a while and the bug to do so again hit me pretty hard recently. My wife sensed this and bought me a few for Christmas leading us to today's post. I used to build them quite a bit along side Zoids, it's super relaxing to do with the TV on in the background. Gundam is one of those things I don't know a super lot about, but really appreciate as a whole. Going into this G Frame kit, I had assumed it was like other models and got my nippers out only to discover they weren't needed.

Each part is already separated ready to be placed on either the G Frame or display frame. The G Frame being the main reason for my interest in this one. It's a super articulated skeleton that the parts plug into creating a hyper possible figure. The Display Frame is a much more static skeleton for a basic display version of your Gundam. The Display Frame also converts into a stand to show off your figure. Neat huh?

The GAT-X103 Buster Gundam is mainly from the series Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. It's an artillery mobile suit developed by the Earth Alliance G Project. My interest is in those big guns, it looks cool. The Gundam has a backpack that holds them and fold out allowing for dual gun combat. The rifles can then be removed and combined for an extra long sniper rifle. If that wasn't enough, the shoulders also contain missile launchers.

The GAT-X103 Buster Gundam is one cool looking robot with some big ass guns. I'm also a fan of the green and red colors. The G Frame system was fun to play around with and I spent hours doing so with paranormal TV on in the background. It was a good time. I'm definitely going to pick up others in the future.
