New Week 2000

Hello Zone Base readers! Welcome back for another week of robots, monsters, and misadventure! I hope everyone had a great weekend, I sure did! I enjoyed a low key weekend with the Mrs, enjoyed her great cooking, watched Stranger Things with her and Mom, worked on more Halloween backdrops for toy pics here on the site, and played Donkey Kong Bananza! Once again my Walmart didn't have any new toys, but I ordered Cyberworld Bumblebee and Snarl! Bumblebee will be here later this week, but Snarl won't arrive until a little later. I have no clue why he's the harder of the initial batch of Cyberworld toys to get, but I happily got one for standard retail.

My most recent Blokees order came in Sunday and the Mrs and I had fun opening the boxes and checking the trading card to see who as inside! I've got 2 cases of Galaxy Version Defender kits to start work on soon. I'll probably order another soon as well, I really love the Defender type kits and feel like they're perfect for site content. In a conversation on Blokees Facebook page, another poster suggested they do Battle Beasts in the Defender range. What a great idea! Part of me majorly prefers things like Blokees and Yolopark kits these days to traditional Transformers toys. I spent years of my youth painting miniatures and building models and Zoids. I guess these just vibe with that part of my brain.

Speaking of vibing with my brain, both SCCC and Wonderfest Summer was this weekend. I definitely enjoyed the new toy reveals at SDCC. Transformers, Masters of The Universe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Godzilla, and others made a great showing with tons of exciting new releases in store. While I appreciate that, I won't lie, it feels like another official reveal like these companies do all year. It's exciting, for sure, but what really gets my heart going is the pictures from Wonderfest. I spent hours this weekend looking them over and wishing I were there.

Well, I've got a fun week in store for you all. This is the prelude before Pumpkin Spiced Mayhem starts next week! I'm so excited that I swapped the site over to fall colors last week! It's good to freshen things up occasionally and with the 100+ degree heat I'm having...  the cooler temperatures of fall feels forever away. It's about to get extra spooky around Planet Zone for the next 3 months and I'm excited! Well, thank you all for reading Zone Base. Your support means so very much to me. This isn't one of those corporate sites that just want your money and you all are real ones for just wanting to enjoy our hobbies. Please be sure to share the site with your friends and Mutual High Fives everyone!

I love, love, love the orange bubbles of Botbots season 3 packaging. Really excited for the new batch, but almost pooping my pants over the Seasons Greeters figs!

Cyberverse Spark Armor

Footage of the Spark Armor on the cartoon is making me look forward to the new episodes even more. Cyberverse is such a great little show it's hard not to want more of it. Seeing that the episodes are usually put on YouTube by Hasbro, they should tampograph a QR Code on the toys somewhere that links to episodes.

Transformers SDCC 2019 reveals

Even more new Transformers products were shown off earlier today (yesterday depending on your schedule) and MAN! Adding to my Great Value BotCon of G1 reissues exclusive to Walmart stores is now the 35th anniversary toys will also be exclusive to Walmart! This is something I'm loving as like many of you I'm in Walmart every weekend as is, and well they've generally got the best prices. I was pretty worried I'd have to order from some odd web store, which means it would pretty much get poached the second the toys go up. Which not only would crash the site, but also sell out in a second. So unlike SDCC exclusives that are pretty hard to get when you have a busy schedule (no, I'm not taking time off to sit in front of a web page, I've said before I will not be punished for being a responsible adult), they'll be at my local Walmart! And honestly, I live in the south so I have plenty to choose from in a stones throw.

Under the break is links to galleries and such.

Beast Morphers new episodes and more new toy looks!

The second half of Beast Morphers looks great! Not to mention even more looks at new toys after the break!

Cyberverse SDCC

LAWDY

MOTU MEGA CONSTRUX SDCC

DUDE

Beast Morphin SDCC

DANG

I'll Siege all the Micromasters!

So, per my previous post wondering about what will be shown at the SDCC TF panel, some early looks at the display confirm that Siege isn't a 1 year line like POTP was, but most importantly shown off a plethora of new Micromasters for me to scream like a banshee over. I'm absolutely ecstatic over more Micromasters. I don't think you understand. Not just that, more cassettes (technically Micromasters) and Battlemasters. Sure there's some other regular guys displayed (that I will get), but what's important here is more Micromasters. Holy crap more Micromasters. This is wonderful. The panel is tomorrow (or sometime today depending on when you read this) and I'll be updating more on my further thoughts then. If they show any more Micromasters I'll probably explode.

Cyberverse Japanese Intro and SDCC week on Planet Zone

I've been patiently waiting to see what Takara does with Cyberverse. If it's anything like what they did with RID (2015) then there's a lot of fun stuff coming! Personally, I'm really looking forward to season two.

Seeing as this is SDCC week and I'm likely to get a few more press releases as well as the glut of news coming from the show will probably result in a different kind of week here on Zone Base. Probably a few reaction posts (I don't plan on talking about everything) mixed with press releases and the Spooky Summer stuff (I'm guessing you all are liking those, it's a fun way to slide into the Halloween season). So hold on loosely (but don't let go) and everything will resume whatever constitutes as normal here soon enough.

Siege... then what?

I've been loving Transformers Siege toys. I've got literally no real complaints about the line and wish it'd go on forever. It won't though, and with SDCC this weekend, like you I'll find out what's following it. Transformers lines used to get 18 months of a life span, or at least until the line got a refresh. Starting with Power of the Primes though, Generations seemingly has shifted to a year long life cycle. It is what it is and frankly a nice way to keep the selection fresh. Though like I said, Siege will by the end of this year and it's follow up will most likely be shown in some form by SDCC.

Usually by now something has leaked. Hasbro has been pretty good about containing leaks these days, but by now there would be something. Closest we have is stuff for Siege that hasn't came out yet. It's at this point I wonder, will it be that different? Hear me out. Combiner Wars was pretty different from Titans Return, which was similar to Power of the Primes, but still had it's differences. All three were part of a trilogy full of toys pretty dang distinct from each other aide from the beginning and end.

Cyberverse this fall on Cartoon Network

News of Cyberverse's channel and release time frame just seeped out and I'm pleased. This Fall on Cartoon Network. I was kinda hoping for Nickelodeon, but Cartoon Network is fine. I already hear the cries of a bad time slot, but I'm going to DVR it anyway, so *shrug*.  Either way, it's great news for me as I really am looking forward to this show. Admittedly because I do something something Transformers and cartoons, but after the clips shown at SDCC this past weekend, I think the show looks great.

King of Kong

I guess Hasbro decided to make this years SDCC exclusives the freaking bomb or something, because, in addition to that amazing Bumblebee set I talked about last week, they unveiled this amazing thing today. Just look at that thing, that's amazing. They've taken the POTP Optimal Optimus, colored him like BW season one Primal and gave him a throne to display all his Primemasters on as well as a magic mace to use them with (because Gauntlets are so last week) and most importantly, a freaking crown. I really want this, and once again the crushing reality of the online sales of these exclusives are usually sold out within minutes insuring a busy working professional like myself to miss out. Sucks, but I guess that's the trade off. That's really awesome though, I mean... MAN THAT'S AWESOME.

Hey Hasbro, you know you could send me some review copies right?

You know, I actually like your stuff right?

Right?

Screaming into space

Damn that art sells it
SDCC is right around the corner and exclusive talk is on every bodies keyboards. Super 7 is teasing a Transformers exclusive by the way of their upcoming Henshin Cyborg style line that honestly looks pretty neat. I do love a good X-Ray/Cross Section robot image.

But, the big one. The poop your pants one.

The stuff dreams are made of
A Studio Series Bumblebee set that comes with reissues of Dial and Zaur, some of the rarest Transformers, and they're coming out of nowhere with a Bumblebee. I'm obviously not going to the con, and I hope I can score a set from the after con sales. I say hope because it's already hard for a working adult to get some of this online stuff as it sells out pretty quickly, but there's going to be all sorts of extra competition for this one. I mean, these are the kind of figures you rarely get to even see in real life... and they're coming with a Bumblebee in a SDCC set. People might actually kill over this one. Going to be a bummer when I wake up and find out it was availible for all of two seconds while I was driving home from work.

I'm a positive person, but knowing I'll likely never get this is super depressing

Voltron could use some defending

Like some of you, I have noticed Voltron toys disappearing from shelves of my local stores. I wasn't sure why as the line seemed to have been selling well and the new product on display at Toyfair was full of promise. So last week, the upcoming Hyper Phase Voltron was shown as an upcoming San Diego Comic Con exclusive in a box set. I didn't think twice as the MEtal Defender set last year was sold at SDCC before retail. Then as more folks started wondering about the upcoming Paladin figures, one reached out and got the following email.

Well, that was a disappointment for the people who were looking forward to building the cast of characters. Many started speculating that the line was outright cancelled, while many said the clearance was just to clear out room for the summer movie toys. Not to mention, the email doesn't say the line is cancelled, just that plans have changed. So a little heartbroken that I may not be able to get any more Voltron toys, I sent Playmates an email myself, asking for some clear information.

So basically, if that SDCC set sells well, they'll look into getting the individual lions out. It really looks like they are trying to get products in stores, and I really hope they do. Like I said, Voltron toys seemed to be selling pretty well around here, and I live in the rural outskirts of a major American city, so it's not the worst gauge to go by.
