It's Monday and a new week here on Planet Zone! I hope you had a good Christmas weekend, I sure did! As we head towards New Years Day you may notice some changes around the site this week. That's been a long time coming. I hope you all like the new look. Of course the content will remain the same. Thank you for continuing to support Zone Base. As always don't forget to share with your friends!
Gives a ride to remember -- in your nightmares! Takes Autobots on dizzying, death-defying flights to scare information out of them. As helicopter, goes 300mph with a range of 1200 miles. Whirls rotor blades to create 200-300 mph wind funnels. uses semi-automatic glue gun. Combines with fellow Combaticons to form "Bruticus".
Likes to be where the action is. Charismatic, inspiring...
other Protectobots have trouble keeping up with his non-stop pace.
Believes in being maximally operational every moment of one's life.
His fire truck hose shoots high-pressure water 1200 feet. As robot,
can press 60,000 pounds, uses fireball cannons that shoot bursts
of 2000 degrees Fahrenheit blue flame 1.5 miles. With fellow Protectobots,
forms "Defensor".
Doesn't stop blasting until he's hip-deep in smoking
rubble. Completely without mercy. The most lethal fighting machine
devised by the Decepticons. In dinosaur Mode, jumps 20 miles with
rocket backpack. Shoots heat-seeking plasma bombs from mouth and
mind-controlling hypno-beam from optical sensor. As city, has landing
and repair bays, communications center and rotating scanners. In
mobile station Mode, has laser cannon, rotating blasters, destructo-beams
and dual photon launchers.
I love the production of this commercial. Like most Japanese toy commercials, this has a small tokusatsu style action sequence starring the toys and really selling the crap out of them! Though I have to wonder... what's the flaming V business at the beginning of the commercial? Just some random V's on fire floating around the screen. Random alphabet on fire aside, I just love how Ultra Magnus's transformation is detailed here. Just really showcasing the overall neatness of the toy. It's not just there, but Magnus is carrying Silverbolt with him in the opening shots selling his vehicle modes versatility. Galvatron is lurking overhead and attempts to get the jump on our hero, but Ultra Magnus just no sells it like Brock Lesner not even attempting to put on a show.
These would be later released in America during Generation 2, but dig that action deployment of the robot mode in the commercial! If you have noticed the amount of watch commercials I've been posting, I've had watches on the mind lately. The time to upgrade my trusty Pebble is near and the options I've been looking over are many. Part of me doesn't want a Fitbit since they bought out Pebble in the first place... but I do kind of like some of their offerings. I'd really like a Samsung, but the model I want is just a little more than I think these things should cost. If only there was a Kronoform option!
I've mentioned before how I love the little tokusatsu productions used for Japanese toy commercials. A shinning moment is the toy version of Scramble City (or Scramble City II as we used to wrongly call it). Just this awesome showpiece that uses the toys dramatically that tells a story. This just isn't another toy, this is a character in it's own adventure.
