Okay... okay... this is amazing.

Disney's Japanese parks are known for being some of the best theme parks in the world, specifically DisneySea. Their version of the Tower of Terror has always looked to be a high-caliber effort, but then there's this promo video made for the ride that's just chef's kiss.

Admittedly, I'm a fan of older '90s video game 3D animation, but the PS1 cutscene look of this production is just... man.

I'm at a loss for words, and this is another one of those times I'm just showing you something awesome.

Phyllis Diller Spends Halloween At Disneyland

Disney does Halloween right. They do Halloween specials right. Somebody behind the scenes of The Mouse Factory did drugs wrong. I don't know if Phillis Diller did drugs, but I do know her name is slang for cocaine. Which I'm sure there was a mountain of offstage on this episode.

Spooks and Magic, the Halloween episode of The Mouse Factory features Phyllis Diller as the guest star going absolutely insane with Disney characters. At one point she's breaking into the Haunted Mansion and harassing the ghosts, the next minute she's having a Halloween costume party with Donald Duck. Said costume party doesn't sound bad until she shows them her batshit family slides then runs them off by singing.

The whole thing ends with her forming a witches coven with King Louie, Goofy, and Witch Hazel. The later is sent to Donald Duck's (who just left) house as a set up to the classic Disney 'Trick or Treat' short. In the end, Phyllis uses her evil witch powers to steal Snow Whites identity and... it just ends. That means she's still out there.

A Goofy Samhain

Disney is well regarded as the de-facto source for family friendly entertainment. It's because of this that many spooky urban legends revolve around the company. You just can't have something that pure without a dark secret or two. Thing is, Micky and the gang are no strangers to spooky shit. They do Halloween every year and they do it right. Celebrations, merchandise, TV specials, you name it. At the parks they even have a spooky summer celebration of their own before starting Halloween stuff in August. Just like here! It really is the happiest place on earth! 

This is Haunted Halloween, a Disney educational short that teaches a mix of Halloween history and safety. It's a clip show from various Disney cartoons with footage from Disney's Halloween Treat. Speaking of Disney's Halloween Treat, the pumpkin from one of the various editions narrates this with Goofy. It truly is a special pairing.

When I was a kid, about a week before Halloween, either the VCR cart or projector got rolled into classrooms and we'd be shown one of a few different safety videos. I've posted the most common ones before several times (here and here for example). I watch those one a week all year long for my own benefit. Never can be too careful. 

Haunted Halloween? Once. I saw it once and never again until finding it on YouTube a few years back. For the longest I couldn't get anyone to believe me about this awesome Disney education short with druids. I wondered for awhile if it was some sort of Mandela Effect thing. Now I can show people this wonderful thing without sounding like some crazy person talking about Goofy being taught Celtic superstitions. Now I just sound crazy. If this was a Facebook post, I would have typed LOL there. Maybe LMAO. That's how hard I laughed, that mother fucker just fell the fuck off.

Green Harold And My Basement

It's a day for dreaming here on the Base I guess. I had prior posted this story on the former additional hidden blog here on the site. None of you ever saw it. So I thought I'd retell it here. What's that? Never mind, I don't know what you're talking about. Maybe click around at random sometime, things may happen. You saw nothing.

Anyway, while I've mentioned moving here before... it's been something I've been trying to do for a few years now and just man... Well, last summer I dreamt I had finally bought a house. It was an older house, but a very big house. Moving is an ordeal and my wife and I were calling it a night after a long day. She and my mother rode back to our old place in our car while I locked up and drove the U-Haul back. In a moment of pride, I took a tour of the house. Looking downstairs in the basement and just man, it was a big basement. Multiple rooms, halls, and as I turned the corner... there was Harold the Yeti. From The Matterhorn Bobsleds. Pre-update.

Harold roared and chased me. I should mention Harold was green while he's normally white. And had horns. Basically it was a bootlegged Harold, probably from Six Flags or something. Still though, Green Harold was in my basement, and he was chasing me. We ran up and down the halls. Holy crap, how big is my basement? After a few minutes, I decided to fight back. So I turned around and shot him with my Specium Ray. It took a few hits, but Green Harold fell down defeated and probably dead. Here's a reenactment.

Cinderella's Castle Mystery Tour

It's hard for me to think Halloween without thinking of Disney's Halloween Treat, the classic Halloween Special (and it's man versions) that's a definite must watch each Halloween season. Though it's long gone, there was a Disney attraction that was seemingly right out of that very special. Cinderella's Castle Mystery Tour was a haunted cave type attraction located within Cinderella's Castle at Tokyo Disneyland that focused on the more scary villains spooking the poop out of guests. Most notable is the large animatronic Horned King from The Black Cauldron. While I always wished my older brother would have went went us on our family trip to Disney World, this would have been a real treat to go with him on. During the olden days of The Disney Channel (when it was AWESOME) they'd regularly show The Black Cauldron and I don't think he ever missed it.
