It's Not The End Of The Century, Just Monday

Another week on Planet Zone rears it's head, and with it... I don't know. Cheese? We're firmly into the Halloween season with August almost over already. Soon there'll be more than just the early birds like me pouring the pumpkin spice mayhem all over. Speaking of Pumpkin Spiced Mayhem, I've spread myself a bit thin over the recent weeks. As much as I've liked making Not as Brightly Lit over the past few months, I have to put it on hiatus. Just for now.

It's a bummer since we're actually now in the Halloween season, but I didn't foresee having health problems when I started it. Between doctors visits and various other things, I have less free time than I did a few months ago. Instead of phoning it in every week (which I've admittedly been doing), I felt it best just to put it on hold until some times frees up. Of course it'll still be Halloween Hootenanny here. Actually nothing's really going to change here, just had to streamline other things a little. I do want to make this a better site. Like, do a better job. Be a better blogger. Write dammit more often. Dammit.

I'm getting better, just it's one step at a time. Which can be frustrating because I feel great. But, every once and awhile I get a reminded that I'm not there yet. I get tired really easy. Even though I'm getting more and more endurance, sometimes I'm really struggling. Ranger Stop is next weekend and I really wanted to go, but between the Covid numbers rising and all this, I decided to stay home this year. Bummer, but realistically I'd be worn out by the time I got out of the parking deck. 

It's Friday evening as I'm writing this. What if I updated more a little later and told you all what happened over the weekend? Dammit.

It's Sunday morning now. Like 5am and I've woken up. Thinking about eating some fruit. Dammit. Yesterday the wife and I did some shopping. Target had Revelations Eternia Minis, got the entire series except Beastman. So I'm currently hunting Stratos from the last series and Beastman from this series. Fortunately they're not blind bagged anymore. I also grabbed one of those Buzzworthy Bumblebee Crash Combiner sets. The Bumblebee/Grimlock one. 

I got a new pair of Nike and a visit to At Home not only nabbed a dollar skeleton (yearly tradition), but this awesome skeleton monster. I have no clue what it's supposed to be, but it's awesome and I'm convinced they shadow released a He-Man villain as a Halloween decoration. We've went full circle, just check the animal skeletons in the Halloween decorations and you'll see. Got one of those bony octopuses working for Merman currently. The Dollar Tree had started putting up their Halloween wares resulting in a most excellent discovery.

Each year there's some great keshigomu/erasers put out with treat bag stuff likes spooky pencils and stuff. Well, instead of generic packaging, they have a set in one of four carded packages! It's the same set of freaks on each card, but the individual art really makes them special. I got the black card with trick or treating ghost. They really come off much neater than a dollar store eraser set should. Hoping Target and Party City also have some cool offerings in the gift bag themed erasers. Party City is the only place local that'll have Boo Hollow, so we'll be there often already. We stopped by the newly opened Spirit, that was fun. It's in a new location this year which looks like a castle.

I think that's enough for now. I'll post pics of new stuff to my Instagram a little later. This will post Monday morning, which isn't right now. I like pretending there's a format to this site. What I done did this dang weekend

After getting home from work Saturday morning, the wife and I paid At Home a visit to see where they were on Halloween stock after putting away the grocery delivery. They've added a new display and more stock since our last visit and I was glad to see the return of the skeleton octopus. I wanted one last year and never bought it. We grabbed some candles that were very similar to older Halloween candles from both out childhoods. Not the exact same molds, but pretty dang similar. Aparently Tuesday Morning has begun stocking their Halloween wares, so I see a visit to our local one is in order soon.

After that was a trip to Home Depot for a few more yard things and a visit to Walmart for the handful of things we needed outside of our grocery order. I dig the convenience of having groceries delivered, but I like to pick out my own Ready-Pac salads. I grabbed The Real Ghostbusters Egon while there. Eventually I'll get Netflix Sideswipe and Megatron, but considering the hundreds of them there, No rush.

Picked up some Panda Express and headed home. After a nap I assembled our new patio furniture outside on said patio while listening to the crickets and the radio. It was pretty nice outside of the nearly 100 degree weather. Summer in Georgia, it's just as hot at night. Hooray baby powder!

I organized my new room for a few hours and consolidated a few boxes for better storage. While organizing some DVD's and Godzilla toys on a shelf I listed to Unsolved Mysteries. The old one on Pluto, I've still got to watch the new one. Seeing as I finally just started Tiger King... it might be a minute.

Sunday we cooked out and my mom came over. Though it was so hot, I probably didn't need to use any charcoal to cook the food. After mom left I initially planned to work on my room some more, but ended up playing some of my At Home Blasts in the living room while the wife played her Switch. Oddly enough about the Blast consoles, the audio doesn't always work depending on TV model.

Our living room TV, nope. I played some NES Star Wars and a bunch of Atari games. Secret Quest is still a lot better than you think it would be. Seaquest is still super fun. NES Star Wars is a lot harder than I remember, fun, but not a casual game. We ended the weekend watching ghost videos before the sandman entered. Brought dreams or something. Weekends are pretty great, sleep is awesome.

The things I did this weekend

This past weekend was a somewhat crazy one. We had a bunch of things to do and not a lot of energy to do them with. After spending about an hour at the old place do last minute stuff before turning in the keys, we went to buy a few things you're not interested in. Nothing weird, but you don't care about the bogo sandal sale. Though while at Walmart I got The Real Ghostbusters Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and a Dino Strike 5 Surprise. The last one of those I got was in March included in the birthday gifts from my wife. I've been meaning to get more of them and think they'll be the subject of a post later this week.

After being up all night assembling our new TV stand, we went to At Home when they first opened to see what Halloween stuff they had stocked during the week. Ours is a little behind others, so we've been getting peaks on Instagram and already knew a few things that had to be got asap. While last weekend was just had aisles ready to be stocked, they had a small amount of said stock out this week. Just like last summer it'll be just a little at a time, and that's ok, it's freaking summer. I get it. Just having these little tastes of Halloween is heaven when you're bat pumpkin spice crazy like me. Which you are, I see the numbers.

This coming weekend we're going to skip At Home to give them time to stock as there's going to be weeks where there's not much added. That's kinda to be expected seeing as they're stocking in mid June for a holiday season a few months off. Not to mention, it'd be more exciting to see a bunch of stuff as opposed to just a little each week. HOWEVER, Jo-Ann's has started as well, so we will stop by and check up on what they have so far this weekend. Which is a holiday, so who knows what the shadow holds... that was lame.
