Weekly Update 7/6/26

Welcome back to a new week of robots, monsters, and misadventure on Zone Base! After that holiday break, I feel fresh and recharged and hope everyone had a great weekend! After spending a few weekends moving, the long weekend at home felt like a miniature vacation. I got caught up with the new season of X-Men '97, played some Starfox, watched the new Ultraman Teo, and spent asome quality time with the Mrs. There was some holiday fun in our new neighborhood such as a fireworks display and "Chalk the Block" where sidewalk chalk and popsicles were handed out. We didn't take part in that, but enjoyed the sidewalk art!

As for getting fun stuff, I sure did! I ordered Energon Surge Off-Road Bumblebee (the quest to get all the Cyberworld continues!) As well as picked up the Target exclusive Hot Wheels X Transformers red Twin Mill and Stranger Things X Transformers Freakwency. A Blokees blind box resulted in a Galaxy Version Elita-1! In all some good pick ups.

I've got a fun week of content headed your way and some changes to the site starting soon. I hope you all enjoy what I've got in mind. Beast Summer is stepping in where the Summer of Swapticons left off. We've got some delightfully beasty posts coming over the next few weeks keeping it wild. As usual, I've got some household chores to get to keeping Mondays busy around the base. I hope everyone has a great week and really appreciate you reading Zone Base. Please share the site with your friends and be excellent to each other!

Almost X-MAS

Monday has reared it's ugly face again signaling the beginning of a new week. Fortunately you've got Zone Base to guide you through. I hope everyone had a great weekend, mine was extremely busy. Christmas shopping and housework took the majority of my time, not leaving me much time outside of Sunday dinner with the Mrs and my Mom. The Mrs made us a great taco dinner that I really enjoyed while rewatching Stranger Things. We're on schedule to have completely rewatch season 5 before the new episodes air.

I actually did grab myself something, some Mr Beast Labs Swarms and Godzilla blind boxes... but didn't have time to open them yet. I said I was busy! Actually, I'm writing this before getting started on some more housework and working in pictures for upcoming posts. The holidays are specifically a hectic time, and mine keeps getting more so! Well, I hate to make this week's update so brief, but I don't think there's any other option. Things will calm down soon enough, but Zone Base will always have robots, monsters, and misadventure searing your eyeballs with chaos and awesomeness. Thank you all for reading, I really appreciate each and every one of you. Please share with your friends and be excellent to one another. Mutual High Fives everyone!

Have a great week, bub

A new week has begun on Zone Base! I had a good weekend that passed much too quickly for my liking. Some weekly shopping with the Mrs was had and I discovered a new Morning Star vegetarian food available! The new Steak Burger patties are available as a healthy alternative for junk food cravings. I already had my cheat meal for the week, so this was a pleasant surprise that came in handy for a Saturday night meal. Normally, vegetarian burgers aren't that special. This one, however, was very tasty and I found to be really good. I definitely enjoyed it while watching paranormal videos and old episodes of MOTU.

Toy wise, I didn't get much. It's either feast or famine in toy sections this time of year and I didn't take the time to order anything either. But I did find some fun things. On my grocery order, I had Darth Vader from the Star Wars Epic Hero Series delivered. I picked up Mouse-Jaw from Turtles of Grayskull from Target and another Godzilla X Kong blind box (that I haven't opened yet). Unfortunately there wasn't any new Transformers to be found. That's the way it goes sometimes. With my birthday around the corner, the Mrs has been busy getting all sorts of surprises for me that has also kept me from buying too much as well. She spoils me and I'm sure to have quite the great time.

Toylanta is also coming up in a few weeks and I'm all sorts of excited. My panel will be Sunday morning giving me the bulk of the weekend to spend walking around before getting to work. As usual, my focus will be Gobots and Rocklords on the dealer room floor with hopes for fun surprises. Be sure to check out my coverage in the annual mega post! Thank you for reading Zone Base. I've got a fun week in store for you all. Please don't forget to share the site with your friends and mutal high fives everyone!

You be my homerun, I'll be your Bumblebee

Admittedly, I just like this graphic.
So with the Bumblebee movie trailer all up in everyone's bees-nests, I feel it's time to talk about the elephant in the room. Why is there an elephant in the room? What kind of mad house do we have with wild pachyderms just in our rooms? Roaming around. Kinda silly if you ask me. Also, I thought I'd talk a bit about that trailer.

I've seen mostly praise from fans excited to see a movie that's full of wonder and magic in the trailer. That Spielberg vibe that really meshes well with meeting an alien robot from outer space that wants to be your friend. It's seemingly what most people wanted the 2007 movie to be, which in all honesty could still be more like the 2007 movie than the trailer leads us to believe, but let's put away that cynicism away and just enjoy feeling happy. I think the most I'm getting from the trailer outside of the tonal shift is the designs, they manage to merge the traditional Transformers look with the Bayverse aesthetic we've all grown accustomed to, and very successfully at that.

Common theory is that the movie will act as a soft reboot as well as a prequel, which if you think about it in the same vein as those younger cast X-Men movies (I swear I've talked about that before here), it works. It absolutely works in a way that would appeal to the casual viewer as well as the more in-tuned viewer.

I know I'm excited, it looks great. The designs look to make for some great figures and licensed merchandise has already popped up that looks super cool. Will Bumblebee bee the sting in the butt this franchise needs to recover from the box office slumps of that last knight all under performing and such? Who the hell knows. I can't tell the future, and nobody else can either. So time will tell, but for now, it's nice to bee optimistic and have that optimism well founded.
