Weekly Halloween- Diese Fahrt ist scheiße

I'm more of a dark ride guy. I like the theming and the spectacle, so when a roller coaster gets any kind of theming... it's a good thing in my eyes. But a scary roller coaster? Ok. Vampire's commercial really sells the idea with the spooky graveyard and the scary bats. It's like a little classic horror short and even the parks mascot gets in on the act! I watched some ride on videos of the coaster and it whips you through a heavily tree covered area and around the old tiny Belgium village area of the park. I really hope some guy dressed as Dracula makes occasional appearances during night time rides.

In the Haunted House

 

I can't think of a better way for us to have fun on our spooky week than walking through a haunted house. What? Oh, no, don't worry. They'll be plenty more spooky stuff coming throughout the year. Every day is Halloween on Planet Zone after all. This specific haunted house in in a theme park called Suntopia World and is pretty unique. While it isn't full of jump scares, it is fairly uncomfortable. If someone or something was out to get you, they'd be able to hide among the props as you walk around.It'd be the perfect place for something really scary to happen.

Transformers Land

I don't make my love of Universal Studios or the Transformers Ride at Universal Studios any secret. So when I came across these conceptual images of a Transformers land for the in development Beijing Universal Studios Park, of course I got super ridiculous. Right now it's not confirmed, so there's no guarantee it will be a reality, but man wouldn't it be cool... and slightly depressing. The Orlando park is expensive enough of a trip, let alone going across the globe and then going to the park. Yikes. One thing of note is the re-theme job of the Incredible Hulk roller coaster as a TF coaster. That's a pretty good use of resources and one of the most popular coasters these days.

Golden Lagoon reference in post title

The new night-time  lagoon show at Universal Studios Orlando has started shows recently, and man is it something to see. If you skip ahead to 11:59, you can see the ultra cool Transformers segment that uses scenes from the various movies, but also from the ride. Or you can just watch the whole thing, it's neat.

Universal Studios Japan Nightime Parade featuring the Transformers

Some time back I posted about the then upcoming Nighttime Parade at Universal Studios Japan that would feature Transformers, Jurassic Park, and other park characters. Welp, it's finally became a thing and video from the parade is starting to make the rounds. Check out just how awesome the Transformers look in those parade floats. That certainly would be a spectacle to see right in front of you.

I'm going to talk about Universal Studios, take a shot

One of my favorite YouTube Vloggers, Tim Tracker, just posted a new video from USO and he found some new Transformers ride swag I'd like to get my hands on.

There's two diecast kit cars themed as Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. These are a part of what looks like a new park line of merchandising as there's also a car for Jurassic Park and a slew for Fast and Furious. Actually, Fast and Furious has a neat station where you can build your own. Wonder what else will get those neat cars?

There's also a new candy bar, which is part of the park characters candy bar line. Looks like a regular chocolate bar, so should be enough for even the most picky fan. The wrapper matches a TF lanyard they sell (yes I have it). I don't know when I'll get to go back, but man I hope it's in time to score some of these.

Imagining a Pacific Rim Universal Studios Experience

So, Pacific Rim is my favorite movie. I love it. It's a wonder super robot Saturday morning cartoon come to life. With Pacific Rim Uprising coming out just in time for my birthday, excitement is an understatement. A recent conversation in Toku Legion about the possibility of a Universal Studios ride based on PR as Uprising is a Universal Pictures release. The fact that Terminator 2 3D is closing to make room for a new experience based on a 'exciting Universal film franchise' completely inspired me to dream up an attraction based in the Terminator show building in like 5 minutes. I think we all are confused as to why I'm either not employed by one of these companies or locked away in an asylum drawing robots on the wall.

So, here's my newest Universal Studios fan fiction attraction.

Using the Terminator 2 3D set up, I can see the entire thing being a Shatterdome facade and the Pan Pacific Defense Corps putting on a demonstration for new investors or political visitors (which are you, the guests) in the Jaeger program. The rising stage areas that once held the live action Terminators could present Ranger suits at a point in the presentation. The placement in the theater screen could be where live actors walk in and out the 4D movie going on interacting with the Jagers on screen moving about. The 3D video combined with the sensory additions from the theaters moving seats, lights, and other effects would really play up the experience of looking at Gypsy Danger in the face as it moves about. 

Just as things are going smoothly, we have a breach and a kaiju is attacking... ORLANDO FLORIDA! We are then treated to a visual spectacle on screen as the Jaeger fights the kaiju complete with all sorts of 4K tricks. Seats bumping around. Fire, lights, 3D video, (what if the kaiju had banana breath?), you name it. Finally Gypsy Danger kills the kaiju in a messy splatter of blood as we get sprayed by water in the seats. The PPDC then addresses us and the show is over. As we leave the Shatterdome, we enter a gift shoft that of course has all our Pacifc Rim needs available.

Think Charlie Day would want to be in it?

Castle Dracula, Wildwood New Jersey

I only learned of Castle Dracula shortly after it burned down. Have been a big fan of it since.

Super Nintendo Land Groundbreaking

Universal Studios Japan held their groundbreaking ceremony in what would have been yesterday for me and man I wish I could have been there. Above is the officially released video from the park, which is a shortened presentation. I just watched the entire thing from a person who was there and wow, they really put on a show. I can't wait to see the new land for myself, though it's going to be awhile. The Japanese park is getting theirs first, which is slated to open in 2020. So, it's going to be some time until Orlando gets theirs set up. Speculation is rampant as to where exactly it's going to go in the resort, but I don't care, I just want to be there when it opens.
