Eat something Scary

Heinz Scarios were a spooky shaped pasta in sauce available throughout the 80's in Canada. For the record, I'm very jealous of those of you in Canada who were able to eat these. They look amazing. Admittedly I'd probably eat them all year, but it would be perfect on a cold October night spent inside watching Sleepy Hollow.

Get a Tattoo in the Horror Zone!

Temporary tattoos are far from a Halloween tradition... but they should be. Every season there's always sheets of them along side the spooky stuff. Scars, bugs, random dragons... they're a pretty versatile and easy way to costume on the big day. In 1988 they even came in bags of chips. You know, you're probably buying a few of those for your Halloween party. Good thing they’ll come with something to wear.

Trick Or Treat With Pizza Head And Steve

It's probably safe to say you're going to eat pizza on Halloween. While it might not be the official meal of the holiday... it might as well be. Nothing beats a slice of the stuff with Garfield's Halloween Adventure on and trick or treating the kids. Everyone has their own favorite brand to order.

I have fond memories of Halloween parties and Little Caesar's. Dominoes is always good, and I've always liked Papa Johns. Maybe you've got a cool local place. Of course everyone gets Pizza Hut, it's just right and who didn't love Pizza Head and Steve? In the commercial above he has a great little Halloween adventure himself.

I love Halloween.

More Orange Sprinkles

A Halloween tradition of mine each year is getting some spooky ass donuts. I usually prefer Dunkin' Donuts for this trip, but latley my local Dunkin' has been a complete let down in this department. I don't know if it's a chain thing or just incompetence on the behalf of that particular store, but regardless, it's the worst.

Ever since I was a kid, Halloween Dunkin' Donuts has been a favorite of mine. I've mentioned before there's something about artificial flavoring that I can taste... and I'm not kidding. Something about weird colored foods usually tastes better to me. Not to mention, Dunkin' makes really good donuts. So good, that used to be the name of the store. But Dunkin' Halloween donuts? Exquisite.

Thankfully, Krispy Kreme has stepped up their game in recent years with an annual Halloween pack of donuts. Though I did just move and that new nearby Dunkin' might be worth a gamble on. Hopefully they'll not disappoint. Those Krispy Kreme ones are great, but man, don't forget the werewolf.

Scary Monsters, Frozen Treats

Summer is a Spooky Season ....and hot as crap. Depending on where you live, sometimes the floor literally is lava. Where I live it's around 100 degrees this time of year, and that's not adding in the humidity. Know what's scary? Chaffing. One way everybody likes to stay cool is a pop sickle, ice cold and delicious. There's no better way to beat the heat. But man... it's a Spooky Season, right?

Monster Pops and Vampire's Secret served up the summer chills back in the day. Monster themed frozen treats don't haunt the freezer section at Kroger anymore, but when they did, it was awesome. While Monster Pops came flavored orange, cherry, and grape in a variety of monster shapes! Though there was a disproportionate amount of grape as opposed to the other flavors in each box. It wasn't much of a surprise to find a freezer burnt grape misshapen vampire behind the tombstones in my family freezer.

Vampire's Secret wasn't just awesomely themed, it was a fucking delicacy. A black cherry pop sickle filled with this amazingly delicious cherry sauce. When it comes to frozen novelties, it was the creme of the crop and a box generally lasted only minutes. It's surprising that the flavor isn't still around. They could re-theme it into anything else and it'd still be the best tasting thing in the store. But... they should keep Dracula on the box.

Five Not Alive

Ghostbusters, juice boxes, Ecto Cooler. Tale as old as time. Though for some reason Coca-Cola tied Five Alive to Ghostbusters 2 promotional output. I'd like to assume it had to do with the bag of sugar in every sip of Ecto Cooler... but seeing as they sold the stuff for years after... probably just an attempt to rub some ghost magic on a different brand. Spooky shit sells, it's a fact.

What's selling me in this commercial isn't the juice drink. Actually I don't even remember what Five Alive even tastes like. Crap? What does get me wanting some of this Ghostbusters tie in drank is those holograms. Look at them, they're majestic.

I'd probably buy guacamole if it had holograms on the container and for the record, I hate guacamole. Kinda amazed I spelled it right though. From what I've gathered, this was a Canadian promotion, so I wonder if Canadian movie theaters sell juice boxes? Or allow kids to bring in outside juice boxes? I can't imagine watching a movie in a theater without the aquarium sized soda or icee they normally sell for a mortgage payment.

The Devil's Tater Chips

I've talked cursed videos here before, I've talked spooky snacks here as well. This just might be the first time I've talked about a video containing a cursed spooky snack. That spooky snack of course would be Horror Show by San Carlo. The Italian snack maker in 1996 confused a potato chip recipe  with a spell in the necronomicon. Thus Horror Show was born, providing all those who dared to eat with hell on earth.

Time to make the Halloween

A yearly tradition of mine is a dozen (hundred) Hallowen donuts. Dunkin' brings it every year with their multitude of options. Maybe I love for the holiday, maybe I just happen to love donuts, and mmmaaayyybbbeee I just happen to be a sucker for crazy colored food. But something about the spooky decorations make these donuts taste better. Donuts are amazing enough, but random crazy flavors and colors on a doughnut that kinda looks like a jack 'o lantern... well man. That's the best doughnut ever. The best.

Takis Zombie commercial

Every Halloween season, Takis puts out their amazingly tasty Zombie Nitro chips and I'm sure to grab a few bags during the season. I'm sure nothing that spicy and green can be good for your insides, but here I am... eating some right now.

Dang things are good...
